Since he is an indigenous person, combined with his age, I very much doubt that will happen.

I fear that once again this will somehow turn out to be the fault of anyone but those involved. Or at least that will be the claim.

It's standard practice to charge someone with everything they can possibly think of, never mind if there is a snowball's chance in hell of making much of it stick. The intent is to terrify the suspect into accepting a plea deal regardless of his actual guilt.

Secondarily if it does come to trial and the main charge fails, they hope to get guilty verdicts on enough of the other charges to still get a tough sentence.

In this case I also suspect the Crown will be promising to drop some of the charges if the boy should identify the driver.
