I just checked my "Order Status" on Apple's website and my G4 has shipped. No email confirmation from Apple as of yet. This is good news for those of us whose orders were "delayed" a week or so ago. :D

I'm thinking of ordering a Dual 1.25 Pwer Mac with superdrive from Apple. When I contacted them last week they said it would take 3 days to ship. I'm not sure if they ment it would take 3 days to build, then ship, or 3 days to deliver it to me.

Does anyone know how long it would take to order a new Power Mac and have it delivered to Mississauga?

I'm gonna pick up a new 1.25 dualy next week; truly is a sweet deal! I thought I needed a 15" AlBook (to replace the 800MHz iBook I just sold) -- whenever announced -- but that was because of pure lust. I just don't need portability right now -- it'd be stupid to waste cash JUST for the COOLNESS factor. :D That realization hit me while I was constantly using the iBook hooked up to a CRT. Buy a desktop for longevity; buy a laptop when you REALLY need it. By the time that I require mobility -- next year -- the Power Mac will still likely be more powerful than whatever PowerBook I get. I'll still have a work horse rig.

Hopefully the 970s will be kicking around by that time. :D

If you are close to a Mac retail store, pick a dual up from a reseller. I saved $100 at Carbon Computing, compared to what I would have paid (not including shipping/handling) Apple.

As for upgrading... print out to paper all your e-mail addresses etc. I thought I was being smart by just adding my old drives to my new PMac, but it turns out I lost my address book
