Thanks. This also begs the question: "which monitor for those who have a pre-USB-C MacBook Pro?"
The retina resolution (13 inch) is 2560x1600 (WQ-XGA, a bit above Quad HD) and it won't drive a 'proper' 4k monitor at full res. Now the issue is that 2560x1600 monitors are quite expensive compared to current 4ks so what should one do?
- Buy a 4k and run it at a lower resolution?
- Buy a Quad HD and lose the difference between 1440 and 1600?
- Anything else?
PS: thats in the context of a reasonably wide gamut monitor, for photo editing but below true 'pro' specs as the budget won't stretch that far...
Yes I had a quick look at UHD TVs but it seems that HDMI 1.4 will only drive those at 30Hz. I would therefore need a thunderbolt connection to get 60Hz...
