Hiking boot problem

I recently bought a pair of hiking boots.

First few hikes were good, they were comfortable and supportive but when walking down a slope or incline, problems began.

My feet would slip forward in the boot and jam against the front. It gets to hurt after while.

Would could I do to remedy this? Tighter lacing, insoles or some kind of padding for the toe area of the boot?

Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

Cheers.

Side stepping is a good approach when going down steep slopes. If it is normal downhill, then the boots may simply be a smidge too large.

Best to experiment to see what you can come up with. Maybe trim a piece of hard foam to put in front of the toes?

Always when going down a longer steep slope front third or half of laces should be tightened. When the terrain levels or rises, loosen again. If that doesn't work, you may want to purchase an insert to take up a bit of space inside the boot.
