It does have Spotlight and you can change settings to not include or include certain things in Spotlight. I would expect that it needs to index or something similar.

I'd really like something that doesn't screw up my primary screen after going from mirroring and then out of mirroring again. I assume I'd need a monitor that can do 1680x1050 to not screw things...
