I am not sure i agree with the so called shelf life as well.. I think is a scam that the government has instilled in our heads to think that plastic will rot like milk..
I sold my two car seats on kijiji.. they had 2 years left before they curdle like milk and smell up the house. LOL - but a lady bought both of them and said it was perfect for the time she needed them. good luck.

The government has no part in your conspiracy theory.

All children’s car seats and booster seats sold in Canada have an expiry or useful life date on them, even though this is not required by regulation. Manufacturers do this to inform current owners and prospective buyers of the potential risks of using car seats and booster seats that may be missing important parts, labels or instructions and/or may have an unknown history, which could lead to less than optimal safe performance when needed. People should not use children’s car seats and booster seats past their expiry or useful life date. Beyond this date, the car seat should be permanently discarded rather than donated to a charitable organization, second hand store, or given to friends or relatives. It is also important to note that if you own a car seat or booster seat made before January 1, 2012, under Health Canada’s Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, you may not be able to advertise, sell, or give it away because it may not meet the latest requirements set out by Health Canada. For further information regarding the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, please contact Health Canada:

Interesting to note that the OPs brand of car seat is described on the Transport Canada site as the lowest recommended usage seat manufactured in Canada. All other brands listed have longer shelf lives, some nearly double.

Okay, buyer beware and make sure it is complete car seat kit.. but that said.. it seems we are filling our land fills up sooner with usable products.. [ lets be serious - that a car seat before 2012 will harm my child? that means there should of been a class action against manufactures ]

There are very usable car seats out there that are still fully functioning and complete that people are selling - not all families can afford the top lines but this method gives them a chance.. [ but sill stick to my conspiracy theory. ]

Let the people decide what they want with their wallets, not the governments or corporate lobbyists with their wallets..

I sold my britax seats on kijiji - they have an expiry date of 8 to 9 years [ at the time of my purchase].. so the buyer got a great deal..

Peg Perego is a top of the line manufacturer. Of course you should check out used car seats (or used anything, or new anything...) but the quality of their products has been pretty high in the past.

What are they worth though? Sale threads need prices.

hi all, I hear and understand you all! I certainly believe having a shelf life is ridiculous.. okay, anything more than 10 years and starting to be brittle I'd think twice about selling the, or even consider installing them.. and yes I have britax seats which do have. 8-9 year shelf life compared these with 5 years.

kijiji now refuses to sell any seats with a Dom before jan 2012!! how crazy is that?? I've got two choices, sell them in a yard sale or another forums now

so yes buyer beware, these are being sold as expired so I've got a difficult time putting a price on something that looks brand new. and yes not everyone can afford a new set every 5 years either.

btw, if you read the tc website, it says should here and should there.. nothing as a shall or must. so legally there's nothing binding.

I am asking 100$ including the seat and 2 bases! picked up of course. pm me if your interested.
