You sure can. All you need to do is pick up a firewire hub, much like you would for USB.

    F5U526-APL Belkin FireWire 6-Port Hub

Above is an example... and I'm partial to Belkin products in general, as well. Usually pretty decent quality and they look nice.

That's helpful, (re B&O). It's nice to know that what I thought I'd really like but will never be able to afford isn't that great after all.

I'm not a big fan of B&O amplifier-wise ... (I was a B&O dealer, amongst others, in another life). They are headroom and power limited and are difficult to repair; a lot of used B&O needs some.

I don't know where you live, but Garage Sales often have older audio for next to nothing; big gear is out of fashion. That means an opportunity for people who don't mind the older gear.
Stay away from anything made during the 80's; good stuff began coming out again during the mid-90's.
I personally use vacuum tube amplification now, and I'm sure you would like it's approach to sound; however the entry point is around $600~1000. The new Chinese made stuff is outstanding value, however and beats much US/Canada/Europe/UK gear from even a few years ago.
If you have a particular make and model you're considering, give me the model # and I'll try to check it out. If you have a specific budget, let me know what that is & I can recommend some things to look at.

I appreciate the kind words. If you have any issues with audio in particular, feel free to call on me.

Thanks for the follow up! Great to hear that you're happy for now.

Sorry, PCF, haven't been a daily ehMac reader this week. As for privacy, your guess is as good as mine. I've never actually had anything to do with this particular messaging system. Normally if you want a private message, you use the IM (instant messaging) link. I accept IMs from all registered ehMac users, but I don't allow anyone to eMail me except ehMac staff.

Not sure what happened to your post. I don't see it in a queue for moderation or anywhere. Sorry to hear that is missing, I have no idea what could of happened.

And sorry no, I'm not Steve. ;-)

This has been quite an education and even if I just take back the BOSE speakers and connect to my sound system - at least I have a much better idea about sound systems than I've never had before. There has also been another development that is actually pretty funny which I want to tell you and a couple of others who gave me so much help - but it will take some time to tell the story so it will be at another time.

Are these messages "visitor messages" private? Just in case I'm going to switch to "private" although I'm not sure how private those are either. So instead I'll email what I have to say. Of course email isn't really that private either. But I guess it will be sufficient for what I have to say to you.

I think you're definitely on the right track if you skip the computer speakers all together.

I think for the quality you're after, adding a new receiver and some good speakers over time would be more beneficial to your tastes. Even if it takes a little longer than you'd like, you'll be overall more happy with the end result.

The other thing about investing in "real" audio gear is longevity. Good systems can be enjoyed for many years by adding and tweaking them.

You can email the message to me.

By the way, the last message is in 2 parts, scroll down and read the other part first.
