HELP! Fair market value for used macs

Hi All:
A while back, there was a simple to use site which gave you the fair and real retail value for mac systems. I believe it was all in CDN dollars - mabe CDN site?? I can't recall the site and would appreciate your help. Everymac.com tends to have slightly inflated costs imho. Thanks in advance!

The problem with Mac2Sell is that it should only be a starting point. IMHO it tends to price low on certain things and high on others (and it doesn't take certain things into account like condition). Your best bet is to use it as a starting point and then look at the eBay completed listings for your model. Kijiji, Craigslist and incomplete eBay are less helpful because they only show what the seller wants to get (which in a lot of cases is way too high).

Another great resource is the root Classifieds forum here, where you can request a price check from the ehmac membership (and there's no better authority on the local used Mac market).

eBay

Hi:

Thanks for your responses. The problem is that I don't use eBay so I'm not sure how to search for the 'completed' sales. I understand what you're saying - systems like the ones I'm researching that have already sold. Don't those ads get removed almost immediately? Sorry, you're speaking to an eBay idiot!

Thanks again for an explanation forthcoming.

eBay does not delete them, but it does hide them. You enter your search for the item you want, and then there is a check box to the lower left of the screen, under "show only," for "completed listings."

A quick note to this is you have to be a eBay member and signed in to do this search

Not only that, ebay also only shows you the completed auctions of the last 15 days.
There are other sites where you can pay some money and they will go back in history a lot more - never tried one of those however.

I just tried an eBay search of completed listings without signing in, on a computer with completely erased cookies, etc.

Apple iMac 21.5 Core 2 DUO APPLE | eBay

Is that readable to others?

Yup, I can see it, and I'm not logged in to eBay.

So, how did you do it?
