Heck if you regret buying Office 2011...think how I feel about buying Office 2008 in May of this year after using Office for OS X...the original for nearly 10 years.

What a pitiful waste of money 2008 was, should have just gone with iWorks and left it at that....but nooo, I had to have Office.

FWIW, my karma balances out. Just yesterday I successfully switched a Mac user away from Office to NeoOffice

This is one of the reasons I really like Pages for the iPad. It's only $10 and simple to use.

Yeah, I installed office 2011 mostly because I was excited about using Outlook. Unfortunately the version of Exchange that my company is running doesn't meet up to 2011's needs and won't work. So even though I have it, I'm still firing up Entourage 08 on a daily basis.

Somebody want to tell me why Microsoft Office Auto Update can't install it's 110-megabyte bug fix while Safari is running? What possible hook into Safari could MS be slipping in there....?

I was wondering the same thing. But it's not just Safari - it's any browser, MSN Messenger and who knows what else.

At least they fixed the bug that prevents you from installing the update while the update application is running.

^^^ yeah, the installer bug. Hit me on the first 110-megabyte update last week. How typical of Microsoft to have to issue TWO 100-meg+ "updates" in the course of a month....

Did you forget that Mac OS X 10.6.1 came out before a lot of people even got their pre-orders of 10.6? Additionally, 10.6.2 came out shortly after that. It's not really a Microsoft thing...

Lars, an Operating System having large updates, and frequent, I can understand. And no - I wasn't in the loop on the frequency of 10.6 updates, as I only moved to Snow Leopard this past June.

It just seems odd that an application, even a suite like MS-Office, would require such huge updates... is "patching" no longer in vogue?
