2x2GB RAM in gen 1 macbook pro...and it won't boot!
So I just got a sorely needed upgrade to my 1st gen macbook pro's memory (purchased may 2006). I was running on 2x1GB sticks and just purchased 2x2GB sticks. They are from the same company, they are the correct type of ram, etc.
I just inserted them both and the computer won't boot. The white indicator light shows it's awake, and i hear the CDROM drive, but the screen just remains black. When I put only one of the 2GB sticks in to either slot, the computer boots just fine.
I've tested both the 2GB ram sticks, they are both functioning and will boot from both docking points if they are in there separately. What's going on? Can this version of MacBook pro not handle 4GB of ram or something? I know it's not the RAM and I know it's not the RAM docks....so it must be the computer?
Thanks a lot
