Question

I just recieved my new 700 iBook. When I go to use Sherlock it won't work unless I am online??!!??
Please tell me this is not some new thing Apple has done. Is there a preference setting to change this?
Help....I am not always on line!!!

Well, the new Sherlock 3 built into Jaguar only has options for searching online, from web searching to stocks to eBay to whatever.

If you want to search your hard drive for files just hit cmd-f in the finder. It is more like the original sherlock built into OS 8.5/6

Sherlock 3 is exclusively for Online searching now. The hard-drive searching function is now built into the OS with, as was mentioned above, a Command-F keyboard shortcut.

As well, a default search field should be available in any finder window. A caveat on that is that the search will only conver the open finder window and folders within, not startng from the desktop level and inwards...
