Help with connecting stereo to iMac?

Hello,

I have an RCA Kevlar digital sound system.. basically my old stereo from CD days, with speakers that attach to the main system. I am wondering if there is a way to attach the stereo system to my iMac, possibly via the "aux" function on the stereo?

I actually did purchase a stereo adaptor cable and 2 RCA cable extenders and managed to attach just the speakers to the back of my iMac through the headphone jack. They work great except I'm not able to use the subwoofer function, and now I will have to switch the speakers from my computer to my stereo if I ever want to listen to one of my old tape mixes!

Long and short of it is I am hoping some smart person knows how (or if) I could attach the stereo itself to the computer, and use the speakers through the aux function?

The speakers each have an RCA cable as well as a black and a red wire thingie that snaps into the back of the stereo. Right now the wire things are not snapped in (although I tried having the RCA going into the computer and the wires going into the stereo, and putting the stereo on aux. It didn't work to control the speakers).

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks!

Yes. Just connect the sound out port (headphone) on the computer to the Auxiliary in.

Airport Express

I purchased an Airport Express for $99 and connected my computer "wirelessly" to my stereo.

Just a suggestion if you need to do it over your wireless network.
