Question Please help: iPhoto won't launch after power outage

Hey everyone,

TeddyK from MacWorld Canada here, and I just received this query from one of our readers. I was hoping that some of you could help him by suggesting any tips in this thread that might solve the problem. Here it is:

Quote:
After a storm where power kept going on and off I can no longer get
iPhoto to start up (or my Lacie external hard drive). When I go to
get it up i have to use force quit as it does not respond to my Power
Mac G5. I think it might have to do with not exiting the program
properly?

First step is rebuilding the preferences. Copy them to the desktop and try relaunching iPhoto.

The file is called com.apple.iphoto.plist and can be found in..

As DG says. If it turns out the actual iPhoto app is damaged, it can easily be reinstalled from either your iLife DVD or the system restore dvd you got with your machine. But try the pref thing first.
