I've used my VISA warrranty once before (when I lost my wedding ring 4 days after I got married, but that's another story), and they did require a replacement quote, but there were no additional fees. But thanks for the reminder, I'll double check with VISA to make sure of the coverage/costs before I do anything. Even if I have to pay for an estimate, it's much cheaper than paying for a new logic board.

Well, I've been doing landscaping with a strict deadline of being done by today, so I haven't had time to talk to VISA or take the computer in to be looked at. The computer had been runnign fine though. Sometime yesterday, my iMac had enough being ignored while being sick and stepped things up a notch. It powered down and will no longer start. I guess that definitely confirms it is a hardware issue.

Well, I finally got approval from VISA to get a quote on the iMac repairs so I took it in today. The tech says that both the logic board AND the power supply need to be replaced. Total cost for repair $850. I've forwarded the quote off to VISA and now just await approval to get the repairs done. While I'm still not paying for anything through VISA, the hassles of having to wait for approval at every step of the way makes me think that next time I will pay out the money to get Applecareand have the repairs done right away.
