using Windows on Macbook: need antivirus software?

do i need something like Norton antivirus and/or firewall protection when using Windows on my Macbook? what 'extras' would i need to buy to protect myself from viruses/hackers?

Why wouldn't you? Windows is vulnerable to attack regardless of what sort of hardware it's installed on, and the Intel Macs are no different.

As for what you need:
AVG Anti-virus
Zone Alarm Firewall
Spybot Search and Destroy
Ad-Aware

Well, windows is crap, sadly not even Apple hardware can save it. I like to take a project leader approach to your query. What are your requirements for needing to run windows? Perhaps you don't even need it at all.

ZOMG! I responded to spam... /facepalm. This thread is 3 years old and a bot replied to a post about anti-virus software and as I have not yet finished my coffee, and did think it odd for a first post from a member I took the bait.
