Problems with my 15" Ti PB...

My PB , which until very recently has been great, has been giving me problems. It turns and starts to boot up, then gets stuck on the apple screen, and the normal circle around the apple doesn't show....

Any thoughts???
thanks

Sounds similar to problems I had just over a year ago with my 15" TiPB. Gave me a week or two of weird behaviour. Networking would just die on me, keyboard would be slow to respond, various other problems. Then it would work fine. Finally one day it froze, and when I tried to reboot, it just got so far into the boot process and wouldn't go any further. I took it into the Apple Store at Yorkdale, and had one of the geniuses look at it. I described some of the behaviour I'd been having, and they suggested a faulty motherboard.

I tried starting the machine up in target mode to use the Apple Migration tool but no luck (and 3 months since the last backup had been done). I also tried pulling the hard drive out and putting it into one of the external case kits but it wouldn't boot either. It turned out to be a the hard drive itself, but I didn't want to trust the motherboard or put any more money into a machine that was 4 years old at the time. I replaced it with a 15" AlumPB, and then a few months later I bought an external FW drive which I hooked up to the old machine. It boots fine now and I'm using it as a test machine.

Back up the machine, perhaps by purchasing an external drive and load your OS onto the external machine and then use the Migration tool to clone the existing drive.

Can mean that your Hard Drive has failed. If it's booting thats usually a sign that your logicboard is still alive to some extent. But its likely only the drive thats dead.

They're quite easy to replace by yourself if you don't want to pay a tech to do it. There are quite a few guides online to do it as well. Pretty simple.

Hey there. I just had this problem with my 12" powerbook this weekend. My drive is shot. Replace and I'm sure your problems will be solved.
