Installing Tiger plus OS 9.2.2

I have a G4 eMac that is capable of dual booting. It came with system 10.2. Then I upgraded to 10.3. Using the 10.3 installation disks alone, I installed both 10.3 and 9.2.2. I can boot from either.

I now plan to buy the Tiger upgrade. My question is: do the Tiger disks enable one to install both 10.4 and 9.2.2, or do they install only 10.4?

The question is important for me, because I use some OS 9 applications that I do not want to do without.

Help would be much appreciated

William

No, OS 9 is not included on the Tiger disk (note: "disk" - singular. There's only one, and it's a DVD.) You can install Tiger as an upgrade right over top of Panther, though, and your OS 9 installation will remain intact.

Thanks very much, Gerbill. That would fit the the bill.

Moreover, suppose that after I install Tiger over Panther and 9.2.2. my HD becomes corrupted and I have to reformat it. In that case, first, I use the disk that came to the computer to install 10.2 and Classic. Then I install Tiger over 10.2 and Classic. Right?

Yes, that would work, but I think you could also install OS 9 from the gray OEM disks even over top of a new OS version. Anyone tried it?

And YES you can get Tiger on CD.
From the Apple site:
"Tiger ships on a DVD, but if your Mac doesn’t have a built-in DVD-ROM player, you’ll need CD media. When you buy Mac OS X Tiger, you qualify to purchase Tiger CDs for only $9.95."
Too bad you have to pay extra.
