mac mini & studio display CRT = compatible?

mac mini & studio display CRT: are they compatible?

isn't there an adaptor sold with the mini that allows this monitor to work?

the display is 17" and has light blue colouring on back.

my brother was told in a mac store that they weren't compatible

The mini has a DVI connector and (i think) includes a DVI -> VGA connector.

If the monitor is VGA or is DVI then it should work fine. I think.

I'm not familiar with that monitor, but if it has an ADC connector then the short answer is 'no' they aren't compatible.

Apple does sell a DVI -> ADC adaptor but it was around $100 or so. So it can probably be made to work via the adaptor but not out of the box.

I'm 99% sure this is the one he has:

http://www.everymac.com/monitors/app...isplay_17.html

which states: Display Cable: Mini D-Sub VGA

this would work then, right?

Yeah, I am pretty sure it would. The mini comes with a DVI > VGA, so he should be fine.

oh Lord no, andrewenterprise. he's been using them since beiges (he still has it and an iMac). he was always after me to switch. years later, after a brief dalliance with a 1400 and then after a bad virus and my Windows PC bit the dust I switched.

I'm after the rest of my family to switch. almost got my pa and sis. any day now.

and thanks for the confirm, comprehab!
