To kill a G4 with Tiger...

One of our G4s, an 867 model, decided it didn't like Tiger. Could be that the disk was near its end anyways.

It now displays a load of kernal krap that no one 'cept the geek what wrote it can understand. I hate this about the Mac running on unix. More geekdom than I care to rub up against.

Part of what it read was 'unable to locate... blah blah blah'

I pulled the plug and put it out of its misery. I might run DiskWarrior on it in a little while, if I have time. May just throw a new drive in, just to spend the boss' money.

Can anyone confirm that this is in fact the case - the disk has met a horrible death?

You know...I wouldn't even consider buying "Tiger" with the two G4's I have in the house,
It really wouldn't give me anything that I'd need on the G4.
Well...Sort of untrue if I was a developer and wanted "Automator"
http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/automator/

The "Core Audio" would be nice...But I think I'd really need a G5 to take full
advantage of that, Am I right?, The Video crap also requires me to have a
machine that can handle the imaging...O.K. I'm stopping right here...
Considering that I'm a multimedia Artist and Apple doesn't want to help me in my weakened G4 state

The newest system is just not going to do anything to help me (The artist on a
budget that can't afford a G5 that gets overheated and is going to be replaced by
a hopefully cooler Intel processor)

Well...Whatever. (Maybe the G6 will look more promising)

Did I mention the sign in front of my house...
"There are no liquid cooled computers on the premises" (Now...Piss off)
