has anyone had problems with random fan spinups, or during slight activity?

There were reports on MacIntouch that the 10.3.8 update caused this phenomena.

Also with 10.4.0 there were some problems with the fans as well ... setting the performance to "Highest" instead of Automatic has been known to cure this problem in some cases.

No, but the morning after I installed 10.4.1 the computer would not come out of sleep... I should start a new thread, yes?

There was a report this morning on www.macfixit.com about sleep and 10.4.1 check it out.
