Does Apple give loner phones while yours is repaired?

Been putting of going into the Apple store to get my XR looked at. There is a smudge that shows up. I have cleaned the lens to make sure it was not the problem, seems to be something internal. That being said, my XR is my only phone, I have no land line, no other numbers just my iPhone. I need to get this fixed soon as AppleCare comes up beginning of October. Does Apple give out loner phones when one is in for service? Anyone been through this and gotten a phone to use while the other is being repaired?

It's pretty rare that an Apple store won't fix something like that within an hour or two.

This was a few years ago, but my wife's iPhone needed to be sent away for repair.
She had to sign a waiver/form and was given a "loaner". The waiver was just a this is the condition you were given this phone in, if you break it/don't return it you will pay XXX. Popped the SIM card into the loaner and we left the store. HOWEVER... the loaner she was given was a 16GB base model phone (I think hers was 32 or 64 gb). They basically said here this is yours for a few days.. just use it as a phone/web browsing/icloud (contacts, calendar etc). Even tho we tell you to do a full backup right before you come into the store, DON'T do a restore as the disk sizes won't match and even if it does restore you will have all kinds of issues. I asked about an identical phone for her loaner and they said no. This is it.

Several days later we went back, swapped SIM cards and she was good to go again (she didn't end up having to do a full restore as it was just a headphone jack and battery issue (again several years ago when they weren't doing as many fixes in stores).

I was in an Apple Retail store for my wife's Airpods. Next to us was a phone issue and within the 1.5H we were being dealt with the phone was checked out and eventually replaced so if within the warranty period I bet they replace it.

hopefully it is something they can resolve quickly, the idea of hanging out at the mall for a couple of hours while I wait for a fix is not very appealing. I do have an appointment for this Saturday so hopefully will have it all resolved then. Would love it if they just swapped me for a new one and I could walk away rather then wait for them to diagnose and then attempt to repair.
