Why Won't My Macs Access The BBC?

4 Attachment(s)
I have been dealing with this issue for two years now, no longer able to access the BBC at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...shire-49277959 for example on my MBP.

Matters not whether I use Firefox, Safari or Chrome. Here is what I get (see below) with each browser. I am beginning to think it may have something to do with my Telus router. Is this possible?

No better luck with my Mac Mini, same result. Yet if I use my iPhone 8 Plus, I get the site without issue using the same WIFI signal, also shown below.

Anyone got any ideas as to what might be causing this?

Too up to date?
My MP running Snow Leopard and FF 48.0.2 has no issue.

I'm on Shaw.

It loaded perfectly an I use a MPB at OS 10.14 using Chrome with Rogers.

So it loads on a different wifi signal just not the one you normally use? Sounds like it may be blocked in the wifi router

No it does not, I only have a single wifi signal and all machines load from the same signal. That is why I wondered if an iPhone is somehow recognized differently by my Telus router. That would seem to eliminate the router as the issue would it not? Works with iPhone, fails with Mac mini and MBP.

I thought the phone was on a different network. So if the phone is on the same and loads up properly then it is not your router as it is going through on a mobile device.

You have ruled out the browser by trying all of them and you have ruled out the network by loading it on a different device. It could be on the Telus router but again why would it go through on one device and not the other?

What version of MacOS are you running? I don't think that would be it as eMacMan said it loaded fine and he is running Snow Leopard.

Have you cleared your cache for the different browsers?

Could it be the BBC refuses to allow devices from a certain range of IP addresses from gaining access? Have you taken your lap top to a location where you use different IP?

Just grasping a straws here :)

Just tried it from El Cap - no problems on older iMac. Wondering if it is Flash/adware issue or have you tried a new account?

I had a very similar problem several weeks ago that appeared suddenly and I'm running Mavericks 10.9.5.

Some investigation said to clear caches Etc which didn't seem to help much, and several said it was due to a corrupt DNS setting.

I didn't do anything with my DNS settings but I did reset the cable router and also used the Network pref pane advanced button to renew the DNS lease.

The latter seems to have helped matters and most of the problem has cleared up.

I also ran Malwarebytes and removed two suspicious thingsit it found that were in one of my Google Chrome extensions. But that was a bit odd as a problem existed with Firefox and Chrome.

Anyway, whatever the cause was the problem seems to have cured itself.

Mojave 10.14 5, but it did the same thing with High Sierra and Sierra before that which appears to me to rule out the OS.

I run OnyX Weekly to clear all caches.

This is very frustrating. I even took it while under warranty to the Genius bar at the Apple store and they could not understand it. It worked just fine on their wifi.

Just spent a week in SK running on Sasktel cell tethering and same thing, no BBC.
