Anyone Able To Understand This UniversalInstaller Crash?

I asked this question on the Apple forums, yesterday around noon, but only have had 10 views and no replies. So Im giving it a shot here.

Unfortunately, I'm not able to post the entire report, and text files are not allowed to be attached.

Hopefully, there is enough of the report to be able to find out what the problem is.

Ever since I installed Mojave on three different Macs, I've had UniversalInstaller [482] crashes while attempting to install newer versions of Canons' Digital Photo Professional.

Could someone please decipher why the installer is crashing?

I'm asking for assistance here first, and if there is none, I'll ask for help on a Canon forum.

I've already performed numerous searches since last fall, and have not found anything even close to this particular crash while attempting to install a newer version of DPP.

Do you have a link to the installer? I could try installing it on my Mojave virtual machine and see if I get the same result.

Downloaded the full installer and ran it. No issues, installed everything in a few minutes

Have you tried getting rid of the program completely, all previous versions, and doing a clean install? I use a program called "AppCleaner". I drag the app into this programs window, it finds all files, preferences files and anything associated with it and moves it to the trash.

Yesterday, I fired up a backup desktop, and the installer crashed.

And on the same Mac, I did remove DPP4 with AppCleaner, and then tried to install the upgrade. Crash.

But I haven't tried removing DPP4 with AppCleaner and installing the full version. I'll try that.

Also, I successfully upgraded DPP4 on one of my other in service Mac. Used the full version. In fact, this computer has never had a problem, and I'd just AirDrop the DPP4 app to the computer with the problem.

And I just did a brand new install of the full version of DPP4 on a MacBook. I don't believe that the laptop ever had a version of DPP on it.

Anyway, on my main computer, I've tried installing after a normal start, safe start, new user with normal start, and new user with safe start.

The installer crashed every time.

I'm now about to nuke with AppCleaner, all traces of DPP on the backup computer, and then try the full version install.

If you removed the app and then tried installing with an upgrade that is probably part of the problem. Without the app there the upgrade installer will not work as it is looking to upgrade what you should already have installed.

As stated earlier, I attempted both the update, Digital Photo Professional 4.10.20 for Mac OS X, and the full version install, on top of the existing DPP4 on both problematic Macs. It was a member on the Apple forums that mentioned trying the full package. Digital Photo Professional 4.10.40 for Mac OS X

And as I mentioned in a previous post, I successfully installed the full version on the MacBook which never had a trace of DPP on it. Better yet, I just tried the full version of DPP4 which was freshly installed on the laptop, and it worked perfectly.

Since I had a successful download and install onto the 22 inch desktop, of the most recent full version of DPP4, I used AirDrop to send the actual DDP4 app to the two problematic 24 inch desktops. DPP4 run without any problems on both Macs.
