I'm always grateful for the help on here. Every time I check back in with an issue, someone comes to the rescue. So, thanks.
I've just noticed that my internal mic on the Mac Air isn't allowing me to record my voice. Just tried Audacity, haven't had to use the mic in quite some time. Deleted and downloaded Audacity again. Nothing changed. All I get is tremendous white noise sound, very disturbing, just a SHSHHHHHHHHHH sound. Awful. I also tried to use iMovie and Photo Booth to make sure it wasn't Audacity, same thing. Am I looking at a repair bill? Not ready for that. Just two stinking little pins on the side. Arrgh. Thoughts? Thanks.
~Michael.

Just about to hit the hay, no troubleshooting advice tonight
However - one thing to consider, use a USB mic (or a USB interface for your analogue mic). That'll save you a repair bill (if it's actually a problem with the mic port) and still allow you to get the job done.
Thanks for the tip.
I restarted the Air, fiddled a bit with Audacity, fiddled with Photo Booth, tried (successfully) Face Time. Seems like things have been resolved, but not sure why. Weird. Holding my breath until the next issue, though I'm thinking I should be fine.

Good to hear that you got things fixed and working properly.
As with all Computer goofy things when they occur, the first rule is to shutdown, wait at least 40 seconds and then reboot, a normal restart doesn't always work.
