How do I view edited iPhone photos on Mac

Hi,
I've been using Image Capture since my first iPhone, to import my photos to my Mac. I'd like to know how I can see the edited version of a photo on the Mac. With my pre iOS 8 photos I have the png and xmp files and with my newer photos I have the png or jpg and corresponding aae files.

Thanks!

Where have you got the photos stored and what application did you use to edit the photos on your Mac?

If you used iPhoto to open and modify any of them, I'd assume that they'd be in your iPhoto library and show up in iPhoto.

The photos were all edited on the iPhone, thus creating the XMP or AAE files.

I'm sorry but I don't have or use an iPhone nor edit photos obviously, so hopefully some other member will chime in and provide you with some help.

I import all photos from my iPhone to iPhoto, drag them to the desktop for editing with one of several programs, but most commonly Preview which fits the majority of my daily editing needs. I also use Photoshop and Snapheal when I require more advanced editing.

I then delete the photos from my iPhone freeing up that space. I have never had an issue and all files remain in .jpg format at all times using this method. YMMV.
