hey all,

my studio manager just asked me to get on the net and do some research towards solving some problems which won't go away.

we've got a network of g5's and g4's, all running panther (10.3.3) with Suitcase 11.0.2. we have font confllicts all the time. the conflict is between the default system fonts and other 3rd party fonts. example: suitcase will alert me to a missing font when i go to open a file, and when i activate that font, i might get a message saying that there is a conflict with a system font, and that i should use suitcase to "manage the system fonts."

i can give more info on our set-up here if anyone reading this needs it, but what i'd like to know is, are there other font utilities like suitcase for OSX which any of you have had success with? what about a font utility to inspect for damaged fonts, duplicates, etc.? i have a good feeling our problems stem from corrupt fonts.

thanks in advance...
a very nice mac!

Suitcase seems to be a pain for me also. Adding fonts to new groups sometimes doesn't work at all. Auto activation is often sketchy. The app hangs my system on shutdown at times. I feel your pain...

As for scanning fonts, try Font Doctor.
It is very nifty, although the previous version (5.1) would ignore AFM files when regrouping fonts. I hope the fixed it -- v 6.0 is just out. You can download a demo from the site linked above.
