Image Capture Autostart issue
 
Hi all, can anyone tell me how to stop Image Capture starting on a boot with a Kodak AIO scanner attached? I know I can prevent it from starting on a camera or iOS device, but the menu to stop it doesn't exist for my Kodak AIO. It's annoying, slows my boot, and adds wear & tear on an old scanner (since it forces the scanner to warm up & run an overview scan every time).

Running 10.7.4 on a 2008 Mac Pro, scanner is a Kodak 5300 AIO with a direct USB connection.

Any help would be appreciated.

An old SL 10.6.x solution that might work.

And what's in your users accounts pref pane 'startup items'? Image Capture?? iPhoto?? or its settings??? to detect a camera device when connected, which basically the Kodak AIO scanner is.

Unfortunately this panel is empty when the scanner is selected, the options he's talking about are there for other image capture devices (camera, cell phones etc…) but not the AIO.

just iTunes helper, dropbox and the TechTool Pro Daemon, I don't think any of that would be calling either the scanner drivers or Image Capture… any thoughts?

Off to the Kodak help support I guess.

But maybe open 'Activity Monitor' and have a look for any suspected daemons that might be running to cause the issue.

To get more info on any, select and click the blue 'Inspect' icon, and click the 'open files and ports' that will provide the details of any app etc. that's responsible.
