G3 Beige/Platinum Desktop, Minitower or AIO

Hi, I'm looking for a Mac that has a built in din-8 connector in it for a DNA sequencer I'm using for research. I want a Wallstreet powerbook for that purpose, but I realized I might as well keep my bases covered and also look for a G3 desktop just in case a Wallstreet's connector isn't compatible with the machine (I'm no expert at this but there might be more than 1 type of connector since there seems to be some sort of Apple geoport that looks almost like a din-8 connector).

Please let me know if anyone wants to sell me their G3 desktop, minitower or the molar mac AIO.

Thanks.

Interesting; I keep a G3 beige tower in my lab just to run a particular digital caliper. Hope you can find what you need for the sequencer.

Thanks. I'm crossing my fingers. Honestly, it never occurred to me that I'd be needing one of these old world macs... I thought my Pismo would be the oldest computer I'd have (and I was luaghed at by an Apple technician for having something so old). lol.

I still own a Pismo as well, and it runs like new except for the old battery. I don't use it anymore, but it isn't worth much and I haven't figured out what to do with it yet. Say, I think I also have a Power Computing G3 tower in storage in my attic. I believe it has a DIN-8 connector. Would that work for you? Or, check out this post.

Is that a mac clone? I haven't heard of that before? for the pismo, you can make it into a server or something. The biggest drawback of the pismo is its 8mb vram... Well I'm thinking of getting an old vtbook to put into the pcmcia slot and upgrade the video through that. Who knows, might make it faster still.

Yep, Power Computing is a clone of the Power Macintosh. It has all the same ports.

Actually, what I need right now is an Apple ADB mouse and keyboard. It might just be me, but it seems like I have no control over an old world computer when it boots up via installation cds. I'm using an Apple keyboard and mouse attached via pci usb card. It doesnt seem to activate unless its on a hard drive that has an installation to begin with.

What's the model of your power computing desktop? Is it upgradeable? Does it come with the adb mouse and keyboard :p? How much are you looking for it?

Too bad, I didn't read this a couple years, ago, I had a couple of G3 All-In-Ones, that I couldn't sell for any price. I gave a them away after trying to advertise them here.
A beige G3 powermac would be your best bet anyway for what you want.

I think the Wall Street G3 Powerbooks were the last to use ADB ports, I cannot find any indication that the Lombard G3 or Pismo G3 models had ADB.
