Question Not sure what to do

I have a MacBook, an iPad2 and an iPhone 4, my kids have an iphone 4 and an iPod touch, and we also have several other iPods. I use my MacBook as the machine to update my iTunes and iphoto libraries which are (were) on two external hard drives.
We also have 3 windows laptops in the house being used by husband, & sons.
We use the airport express for our wifi.

Since I have been using my iPad2, I have turned on my MacBook very rarely.
Also, one of the external hard drives fell to the floor (i won't go into details), a good friend was able save the information to his own disk, but felt it would need to be replaced.

What should I be replacing this with, the MacBook is 4 hrs old, i am thinking the Mac mini but I am not sure if I can run this without another desktop or laptop, or should inget the time capsule 3tb and rely on the Mac book to continue to do the job it has been doing?

Just to clarify, are you using the 2 external HDs for your music and picture storage?

Anyways, I suggest getting a desktop like the Mac Mini to go plug the external HDs into, so that it can be used as a computer and storage solution for your media. It seems like you prefer using your iPad 2, so it seems like a laptop is not necessary for you anymore. A desktop would be better for you and the storage solution.

Seeing as one of the external HDs broke, try going ahead and getting an external HD with 2 or 3 TB of storage. This should last for a very long time, depending on what goes on the external HD as I am not completely sure.

Yes, the external drives hold the musc and photo libraries.
Does the Mac mini require it's own monitor and keyboard, or can I use my tv (samsung smart)?
It seems by your comment that it is not an either/or solution, but a co binational of both, am I correct?

Thanks for your help
