Not allowed links in signatures?

Funny enough, I've been informed by the administrator here that they have removed my signature, removed all posts pertaining to my site and told me that I am not allowed to post any further links to my site on this forum. I didn't realize how bad things had truly become here.

I've asked for further clarification on this issue and also requested that if links to our own sites are to be removed from signatures and that we are not allowed to post links to our own sites on the forums that this be applied globally... I see quite a few other users who have links to their own sites in their signatures ...

Things really are going downhill when the administration feels that a tiny little site with just over 30 members is a threat to them. Talk about paranoid!

Anyone have any comments on this behaviour?

P.S. If you want to know what site I'm talking about them I guess you'll have to PM me as if I actually post a link or the name of it I will probably just get my post(s) deleted ... again.

I have removed your signature and a post made by your from the forum. The reason I did this is because we do not allow users to post links to competing forums on the site. In the future please refrain from posting any link to (link removed) on the site.

Thank you

Funny enough I don't see anything in the way of rules that states this shouldn't be done ... I've asked for clarification but I'm really not expecting to get any.

Suck it up, Gerk. Like I said before, it was a clever strategy, but it came back to bite you in the a$$. Hopefully you were able to gain as many followers as you could before you got caught. Now maybe if you weren't inviting members here to a competing site…

This is not the case at all. Users are allowed to post links on the site and in their signatures. As I mentioned to you I removed the link from your signature because you were trying to recruit members from this forum to your own forum. Regardless if you have 1 member or 1000 members on the forum this is not allowed you cannot link in a competitive forum in hopes of taking members from here.

Thank you

Yep I guess I will have to "suck it up" ... as far as strategy there really was none. I put a link to my new site in my sig just like other members did. It wasn't a conspiracy or an attack on ehmac, it was just something new for the people who were no longer posting here and other places.

Competing hmm ... I guess on some level I suppose. But let's see ...

ehmac: 42,000+ users, 91,000+ posts and a gazillion ads all over the place (some are getting pretty iffy too)
The site that shall not be named: 37 members, 800 or so posts, no advertising

That's some mighty competition!

I guess certain users complained about it ... maybe the same user(s) that had a hissy fit and actually sent all the people to my site by pointing it out to everyone so blatantly LOL -- if there was any strategy I think I would have to thank SINC for that one as it was totally on him, it was the best advertising possible given the situation. It's not like _I_ started a bit thread complaining about an attack on ehmac (which I can assure you it wasn't) ... in fact I never even started a single thread about my new site anywhere here. I commented on one thread (and then again on the one that SINC started up lumping me in as one of Grovvetube's "gang" in launching an attach against ehmac).

My point is that this place really has gone down the tube and apparently it's run by the user that complains the loudest to the management who then have to come in and kick the little guy around some -- the same user that seems to like to bully everyone around. I wish VS luck in their venture (namely to make lots of money off of all your backs by selling all of the viable text in your posts to the highest bidder and filling your favourite forum full of ads).

Now officially sucking it up ... but I would still like to see the rules of what is and what isn't allowed. I'm sure I've crossed the line again by complaining about things here :D

Ok then please amend the rules as you stated you would in PMs and I will abide by them. Had they actually been in place I wouldn't have done it.

P.S. It is still taking about 10-30 seconds for any posts to actually work here more often than not.

This is standard practice at most other forums. Any signature link that could even remotely be construed as advertising for your site, service, or product is strictly forbidden.

I am a member at both sites, though I find this site easier to navigate. For now. Fact is, had I not been a member of this site, I'm pretty sure I'd have never even heard of the other sire. And I heard of this site by word of mouth several years ago. So there's that.

Gerk, I don't think anyone cares about MacDiscussion. Although now that you've started a thread to advertise it...
