Post Announcing the Gerry MacNutt Award and it's first recipient

Many ehMac members know who Gerry MacNutt is, but for those who don't, you can read more about him in this thread: RIP MacNutt.

Today, May 26, 2011 is the 5 year anniversary of Gerry's last post here on ehMac.ca. He will always be missed and never forgotten.

To commemorate Gerry, we have created an award in his honour called the Gerry MacNutt Award.

This award will be given to ehMac.ca members who have reached the very huge and very significant milestone of 50,000 posts on ehMac.ca, which no doubt represents a monumental dedication to the ehMac community! Gerry had that dedication and if he were still around today, he would of no doubt hit that milestone. Even five years later, he is still in the top 10 contributors to ehMac! His posts were very sincere and brevity was not his forte! Trust me on this.

Our first recipient of this award goes to Dr. G and very deservedly so . A plaque for the award, which I will reveal here shortly, will be awarded and sent to Dr. G.

Gerry MacNutt represented someone who had very strong beliefs and opinions on topics, and was very eager to share those opinions. Many members disagreed with his opinions strongly, but he was one to almost always share them in a way that was respectful and caring to fellow members. He was also very generous and very kind and would often send out gifts and neat things to other members just being the friendly guy he was. It's many of those character traits that exemplify what it means to be a member of the community and we'll always honour and remember MacNutt because of it.

Cheers to you MacNutt, rest in peace buddy, and congratulations to Dr. G.

While I didn't get to know Gerry the way that some of the older members did, I do know of his legacy. A wonderful idea and an equally wonderful first recipient.

Congrats Dr. G!

Congratulations, Dr. G. Few people will ever receive this award, so the honour of being the first is even more to your credit.

Weird, isn't it? He's actually been gone longer than he was here.

Great idea for an award Mayor!

Wish I had known Gerry while he was around. He really sounded like a character.

Congratulations Dr. G! Well deserved.
