Garmin map update help, please.

I got a Garmin C530 for xmas '07. I have:
Quote:
Information about your StreetPilot c530, North America:

-Mapsource Product:
City Navigator North America NT v8 Deluxe Unlock

-Region:
City Navigator North America NT v8, Deluxe All Regions, Apr 06
The maps are out of date at least in Quebec south of Trois Riviere towards route 20 where I found myself driving in the middle of a white area..... Same again through New Brunswick where long stretches of the Trans Canada run in the white, so to speak.

Does anyone know if the '09 update fixes this?

How exactly does one update the map anyway? Does one just run an updater or ???

Is it better to buy the DVD or the download?

I have Garmin WebUpdater which updated the unit's firmware. Now I see Garmin Bobcat and Garmin MapUpdater.. What are their roles? Do I need them?

Any hints or help would be great. Thanks.

EDIT. I find this message on the Garmin checkout???

I have two Streetpilots, an i5 and a C330.

I bought the CD for the 2008 update from a local map store.

The maps are so much larger in file size now that neither of my units would take all of North America.

I had to make a choice to install either the US and southern Canada, or Canada and the northern US.

I put one in each unit after complaining to Garmin direct and they sent me a free CD so I could do it. (The CD is coded to one unit only and won't allow you to install to two different units.)

One thing to know here though. I had to use Windows XP to install the updates in both units. There was a glitch that did not allow a Mac to make the upload and I made Garmin aware of it, thus the free CD.

The CD cost $79 plus tax BTW.
