Pathetic American Idol Contestants

Is it wrong to laugh at them?

Just saw a GINORMOUS (translation: massively obese) 16yo girl try to sing for the judges, all so she could win to help her MORBIDLY OBESE mother.

The audition was absolutely terrible, and I can't help but laugh!

Am I an evil person? Do people like this deserve to be laughed at? If you are going to go on national TV with no talent, and try to win a singing competition, why should we laugh at you?

If you actually tune in to watch such cheap spectacle, should I be laughing at you?

I am in conflict on this issue...I laugh my ass off at them! However, I feel bad because these people are giving their best and I imagine it is quite difficult to get up there and do it. They think they are good; they gain what little courage they can, and do it. They are taking a huge risk in having their self-esteem destroyed.

BUT, you would think these people would know they can't sing, so why think you can? Having said that, as a parent, I would try to envourage my kids to do their best so how could I be "Son, you shouldn't waste your time trying to sing; you suck...you have a voice for mime"...

Some of these people are straight whack-ased, these people are ok to laugh at...er, rather I feel less guilt...

Can someone please come up with something half decent to be on during the same time slot. Thank god for Restaurant Makeover tonight, I don't think I'll be as lucky in the coming weeks.

As a parent, I would say to my kid:

"Son, everybody is good at something. Singing is not one of your strengths. That being said, if you want to prove me wrong, go for it."

Too many of the parents on this show coddle their kids, and it is all too evident. False hope is a lot more damaging than honest truth.

It depends.

I can appreciate the bravery required to go up and audition. But at the same time, when the judges give you a no and insist you are not a good singer, why argue and say you are?

Granted, Randy, Simon and Paula may not be the be-all and end-all of the music industry, but they know something about singing.

True...parents definetly coddle their kids; not sure if it's parental ove or the parents are just as whacked...

Now that moron for brooklyn with the mink and the gigantic lips with lisp to match is a GREEN light to laugh at... you know he'll be back this year!

If you find it funny then you find it funny, nobody can judge you based off raw emotion.

I couldn't even bring myself to empathize the young woman with the special needs daughter. I must be bad.
