Alberta - Strong and Free

No, this thread isn't trying to goad anyone or to threaten separation (we'll wait for the Griberals, or is that the Libereens, to form a government before we do that).

Instead, this is about something even more obnoxious than an internet post, it is about a potential new license plate for the province.

Quote:
But it looks like we could finally be getting a new licence plate.

The current plate has been around 23 years and Wild Rose Country has been the provincial tag line for 34 years.

And neither are exactly anything special.
Quote:
"It's not a state secret, but we know within a year or two our licence plates are going to run out of numbers," he says.

So the reasoning is, if the plate is going to have to be redesigned, why not go for a whole new plate.
Quote:
Let's drop the Tory blue and orange and scratch Wild Rose Country. Instead, let's get something sharp-looking with a strong message and no controversy, a design no one can bellyache about.

The province's colours are blue and gold, so how about a blue plate with gold letters?

Alberta's official motto is, in case you missed that social studies class, Strong and Free. Put that on the plate instead of Wild Rose Country.

Not only is Strong and Free the province's motto, it's also in the national anthem.

Who can complain?

And can you imagine driving through other provinces? Alberta. Strong and Free.

Just a thought.
Of course, then there is this:

Quote:
We'll talk to people about what they want. It would be nice to get school kids involved."
NOOOOO, don't get kids involved, let's go with "Strong and Free", if we bring in school kids we'll get something like "We're All Achievers" or something lame like that.

Or even more likely and much worse:

"Like, it's Alberta, eh!"

Yuk.

If the government gets too much say it might be "Ralph's World".
