nhl 2007 vs nhl 2k7

Hey All,

Getting an xbox 360 today. As Canadian Law states, I must buy one NHL hockey game! I'm wondering what everyone recommends

EA's NHL 2007 or NHL 2K7

Thanks,

emalen

I'm a fan of the 2k series. The graphics aren't as good as the EA variant, but the gameplay is of the more classic NHL video game variety. I just find the 2K game to have better gameplay, and from the reviews I've read they seem to agree with that sentiment. The online part of the 2K series is also head and above EA, so if that's a consideration you'll know which to pick. This year EA introduced a new control scheme that enables you to shoot using the analog sticks, which was kinda interesting. 2K changed the standard camera view to the game which makes it a little more emersive then any other NHL game so far. I really liked that change.

2K is always the better reviewed game, while EA is the more popular, as it has the EA marketing machine backing it. In the end they are both pretty good games.

I personally like the 2K games better myself. Have only played the EA one a little though. I like the commentary in 2K, as well as all the extra features, skybox, special arenas, different types of games, etc. I have 2K7 and think its an excellent game, and this year the Leafs will be winning the CUP!

You can always postpone your decision while still conforming to Canadian laws by buying the NHL 95 TV plug-and-play game...
