Kitchener: I.E.D. detonates outside courthouse; 1 dead

What the actual hell?

Fatal car explosion outside Kitchener courthouse caused by suspected I.E.D.

Waterloo Regional Police say a man’s body was found inside a car that exploded outside of the regional courthouse in Kitchener on Friday morning.

Police said the explosion “appears to be the result of a suspected improvised explosive device.”

At around 5 p.m., police announced that officers were at homes on Hearthwood Drive and Grand Flats Trail in Kitchener with Peel Regional Police Explosives Disposal Unit “to ensure the safety of these residences.” Before 8 p.m., officers said the homes were cleared.

Emergency crews were initially dispatched to Duke Street between Frederick and Scott streets on Friday at around 10:30 a.m. to extinguish a car that was on fire.

“At this point, it’s very early in the investigation,” Const. Andre Johnson said from the scene at noon. “We are still trying to determine the cause of the fire and exactly what occurred.”

While he couldn’t say if there were any injuries, police announced later on Friday that a body had been discovered inside the car.

“We have our explosive device unit on scene trying to determine an origin of the explosion,” police spokesperson Cherri Greeno said.

She says they have evacuated the area and are advising people to stay away as a precaution.

“We have a large police presence there for quite some time,” she explained.

Probably a targeted assassination.

Still one can't completely discount the possibility of CCC; Covid Crackdown Craziness.

Social Distancing is an Oxymoron. The correct term is Social Demonization or Social Repression. Bandits, thieves and politically correct thugs hide behind masks.

Juthdin's diversity? America's peaceful protests come north? Some other leftist policy gone awry?
Just a meat eating, mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging, Harley riding deplorable troglodyte peoplekind, back from a better place...

"Rob Kowalczyk, who also works near where the explosion occurred, said he heard a bang and could smell smoke and plastic burning.

"Some of the guys on-site tried to help the person out but weren't able to make it in time. They opened the door and it just fed the fire more," he said. "Unfortunately they weren't able to save that person."

Police confirmed around 2 p.m. that a man had been pronounced dead at the scene."

When I first read this article, I thought it might have been a suicide outside the courthouse by someone disgruntled enough with some legal decision. However, looking at the exploded engine, assassination seemed more likely,

According to most recent news, I was right about the suicide. It appears the man self-immolated while seatbelted into his car. Glad IEDs have not yet made it to Canada.
