One of my favourite bands of the 70’s and 80’s. Ric Ocasek had a distinguished style, both visually and musically. He will be missed.

One thing I don't associate with disco? The Cars. New Wave / Rock, yeah. But disco? Nuh-uh.

The Cars were literally the musical definition of synergy. While singularly they were not outstanding, together they created some of the signature music of the MTV era....and Ocasek was front and centre as he was their cool, understated driving force. Sadly time takes another.

The Cars, along with Blondie and a few other bands were the antidote to the disco era that I was craving circa 1977-78.

I keep hearing “Just What I Needed” played in tribute, which is a fine song that Ric wrote, but he didn’t sing it. That was Ben Orr, the same bass player guy who sang “Drive” and “Let’s Go.”

As I said I skipped the entire era, and nothing has come along since to reignite my interest. Kind of like my parents preferring, Glen Miller... and Elvis to my choices.
