My first House design

My dad and I designed this house, built it along with two others (different floor plans) in Blackfalds, Alberta where he has a subdivision. I did all the tile work, painting, hardwood in this because this is mine until I head back home to Ontario in a couple of years to finish my third year of school (Architectural Technology).

A lot of fun, hard work, and sore fingers lol...so dry out here in the west! I am learning all I can from my dad since he was a builder / designer while he still can (getting older ya know )

Since I used to build showers for people I decided to build myself a roman bath

I also tried that cultured stone around the fireplace....neat stuff..but pricey..

Lots of fun...

Cheers!

There is over 800 square feet of travertine in this house...I had the best buy from home depot ever...18x18 travertine for $2.19 a square foot. The hardwood is handscraped hickory that I got from Red Deer Coop where I used to work years ago. He gave me a very good deal on this...

Thanks guys....finally moved in this weekend, although appliances come next week! oh well...hot plate, and a toaster oven work well

a few more pics...

Haven't decided what to do for the kitchen backsplash, but it will have travertine and stainless steel as the appliances are stainless....

Very, very, nice. You did an excellent job, especially the back of it, I like that covered 2nd storey walkout.

I'm in my own reno 'he** right now. Had to raise a house..lol
Wanna come to ontario and do my tile?

hah, that was tongue firmly planted in the cheek question. But, thanks for even considering it.

I plan on doing that myself, warm-up on the ply, unmodified, then ditra and large porcelain floor tile. I may go up the wall with a simple beveled subway tile (read cheep) but it may look too institutional so perhaps not. Kitchen floor same way except using different wire heat which is designed for actually radiate heat into the space. No registers in the kitchen.

nice work!

I'm doing my backsplash soon myself, similar, black granite wood cabs, so I was thinking something to put some color in amongst all the brown/black.
