Cool The latest from Mars

With all due respect to the existing Mars Landing thread, I'm starting a new one to highlight some of the Curiosity rover's achievements.

First - NASA released a 4-frames-per-second video of MSL from the moment the heat shield dropped away up to landing. Then a mega Mars fan named Dominic Muller put his computers to the task of interpolating frames, and came up with a 25-frame-per-second version that's really cool.

Second - Curiosity has begun to snap telephoto shots with its mastcam - here's one of 'em. Spectacular!

...and if you want even more cool imagery... check out the GigaPan of the Curiosity Rover landing site.

CM, it is amazing how it looks somewhat like parts of Alberta (the Badlands) and parts of Arizona (the Painted Desert).

I wonder what kind of fossils you'd find on Mars?
