Sorry, my original post seems to have been cut off part way somehow.

Yes, I'm getting my subscribed e-mail notifications, but they are all getting stamped by my ISP with: [Shaw Suspected Junk Email] added to every E-mail's subject line.

i.e.:

I have contacted the shaw.ca support techs several times who only say they will get back to me, but they sure don't seem to be in any hurry to do so.

One other site's Weekly E-mail is also getting flagged the same way now and both just started a week ago, so there must have been some changes made by the Shaw E-mail SPAM filter server in that time.

I was just curious if there was someway you could tell if any mail coming from ehMac.ca as [email protected] is being treated by them as a black-listed site?

Are you able to add [email protected] and [email protected] to your emails' contact/safe sender list?
If it's not on that list, it's usually put into the spam inbox.

Yes, the sender's address <[email protected]> was in my WebMail's "Trusted Addresses" list and re-entered just in case and saved, and I just added the <[email protected]> address even though there is no sign of that address in any received email that's getting flagged by the shaw email server with their "[Shaw Suspected Junk Email]" subject tag.

Most annoy and I have no idea what the tech is actually doing to fix things when I'm only told "he's working on it". Gheeses, it's been a week plus so far!!!

My query to you people was to inquire if there was any way for you to tell if your <[email protected]> sender address was possibly blacklisted by Shaw's E-mail servers???

But then again, their [Shaw Suspected Junk Email] subject tag is only saying Suspected which wouldn't be a very positive blacklist type of phrase.

Sort of like saying: possibly being a little bit pregnant.

Blacklisting and trusted sender list are two totally different things.

Servers get blacklisted if it's perceived that too much spam is being sent from that server.
Once a server is blacklisted you won't get any email from people using that server.

"Trusted sender" (or equivalent) is a seeting on the recipients email program that guarantees that the email with that "trusted" email sender address will not be placed into the recepients spam filter.

Patrick, what you are getting is different again
[Shaw Suspected Junk Email] is triggered by a Shaw algorithm that thinks the email may be spam - nothing to do with blacklisting.
I get that with my account also, not for email notifications from ehMac but other emails which are often spam but not always.
On my account it just shows {spam?] ahead of the subject line and I just ignore it.

Maybe Shaw can fix this problem for you but don't count on it - they have developed some algorithm that looks at a few parameters in the email and then decides if it should add the [spam] prefix to the message. Maybe their algorithm needs tweaking, probably not at the top of their 'to do' list.

I know with Google there would be a "Not Spam" button. Do you have anything like this when viewing the emails?

You may need to contact Shaw support to see if they can resolve the issue.

I have been in contact with the Shaw support techs and spoke to them again yesterday with a new tech as nothing seems to be happening to fix the problem.

It now seems I have the same thing happening with the e-mails getting tagged with their [Shaw Suspected Junk Email] getting added to the subject line with weekly e-mails from the Tidbits site.

According to shaw's old support forums (2015 era) they used to have a "not spam" button but that disappears when they updated their software.

Yesterdays Shaw tech tried to tell me it was a common thing to get labeled in such a way and to just get used to it and their filters were just flagging such e-mails and conforming to some Canadian E-mail laws due to some illegal text in the header.

What a bunch of BS, and had to get rather testy and let them know I was not about to put up with their sloppy attitude and BS.

He was to look into it and call me back sometime this afternoon. We shall see, but my gut tells me not to expect too much from such incompetence and sloppy attitude. Unfortunately, that seems to be how so many work these days and expect to get paid big bucks for it.

I have even looked at the headers of previous unflagged E-mails and recent flaged emails and done a comparison with BBEdit, but cannot see anything that would flag anything to do with spam or junk.

If anyone knows what might trigger such flagging please let me know or if they would like a copy of just the header data.

That seems whoever is in charge of their email server software is not available to any public users and are kept behind a secret protective wall. But I would think there must be someone who is responsible for setting the spam/junk settings and limits. And something at their end must have changed on the 16th and again on the 20th of this month, as everything was working fine until then.

I haven't noticed any comments from any other ehMac members of having a similar problem with their ISPs or Mail servers.

The problem is trying to get them to fix the blankly blank blank thing - wrong algorithm or not or whatever the cause.

It was all working just fine last week, so it would be nice if they would just put things back the way things were.

I think you're wasting your time trying to get that fixed.
When I talked to my ISP about this type of issue, turns out they just "buy" the algorith to try to identify spam.
This was a small ISP, so maybe Shaw created their own.
In any case, as far as the ISP is concerned, this is just a notification - it's not that they are blocking anything.
And the algorithms doesn't just look at headers, it looks at the body of the email again.
It's just not something that Shaw can actually fix - maybe before they didn't check for supposed spam as well.
Did you ever get any emails with the prefix on the subject line before?
