After over two weeks of suddenly receiving ehMac.ca false-positive emails from <[email protected]> and the subject tagged with added "[Shaw Suspected Junk Email]", I was finally able to get the problem resolved after finally getting hold of a Shaw tech who actually knew something of the problem on my third attempt.

Bottom line, it seems they strictly enforce the Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) rules and use the services of Cloudmark to do so.

Their "filtering" was erroneously flagging the ehMac E-mails using the commonly/standard used X-Authority-Analysis: and the main tag that was causing the problem was in the "p= " and its text code flag in the email's header.

Here's a typical sample:

[Shaw Suspected Junk Email]Reply to thread 'The Shangri-la Clubhouse'
The Shaw tech was able to rectify the problem for me for now but also suggested I get hold of an admin tech at ehMac as the problem will re-occur unless the problem at the ehMac server site is fixed.

Here is the context of his e-mail to me:
Quote:
Hi Patrick,

I got the email back from our cloud mark team and this is what they found on their end. "The IP address 130.211.190.161 sent messages that were reported spammy by end users". Can you please forward that to ehmac and let them their IP is getting marked as spam and we as shaw don't have any control over when it comes to spam filtering.

if you have any other concern you can reach us at 1-877-742-9249 or you can email us at [email protected]

Thanks,

Faisal A.

So it seems that the ehMac server has been flagged as "spammy"!!!
"The IP address 130.211.190.161 sent messages that were reported spammy by end users".

It seems to me, some ehMac associated tech may want to get that fixed and get the "spammy" reputation tag removed from the sending server!!!

That would be appreciated, by myself especially.

Thanks,

- Patrick

I'll pass that along, but the volume of emails we deal with and send out, emails that contain multiple links, means that getting flagged as a Spam source is a somewhat common occurrence.

That IP also traces back to the Google Cloud servers that we use to host the site. Not sure what to make of that information. A little above my knowledge level.

Glad you were able to get it unblocked on your end

Kevin

Thanks for your help, and it would be very nice if the problem does not return, and it's certainly all well above my knowledge base, and all I can do is ask for help from my ISP and relay the info if and when I receive it back to the source here.

My understanding of the servers getting labeled as "spammy", especially in Canada where the Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) is enforced, is due to the ease of the receiver clicking some spam button, even in the case of legitimate e-mails, rather than taking a bit more effort and to un-subscribe themselves from such mailings.

I certainly hope that what ever they did to stop my e-mail from ehMac getting flagged will keep on working as it is now.

Actually, I don't understand why at least their webmail doesn't have some option to Mark such false-positive "junk" email as "Not Junk" that apparently my ISP had a few years ago, but got removed for some unknown reason. But maybe it just didn't work!!!

Anyway, thanks for your help. Again.
