: Hot Spot is carrier dependent!?

I was in Europe last month and realized that the "hot spot" option on my iPhone would disappear in some cities. I think it's up to the carrier to allow it or not. Kind of a pain as I was hoping to use it with my ipad.

Yep it's the same as the tethering option ... the provider can allow it or not from their end of things.

That and tethering are about the only good things we have with our Rogers accounts.
I know that in France for instance, they charge around $30 per month just to be allowed to use the hotspot feature :greedy: :yikes:

most other carriers charge extra to enable tethering/hotspot, this is one of the only areas our Canadian carriers are actually ahead of the curve, (ie we had tethering added to pretty much all data plans 1 gb and over for free a whole year before AT&T, allowed any tethering on their network).
