Asking the experts...

I have a 2GHz Core Duo MacBook with 1GB of RAM.

I'm looking to upgrade the memory. According to Apple, this MacBook officially supports only 2GB of RAM max (matched pair of 2x1GB RAM).
Unofficially, I have heard that it can support 3GB of RAM (2x 2GB RAM).
I have searched the forums and cannot confirm this.

Can the 2GHz Core Duo MacBook support 3GB RAM (matched pair of 2x 2GB RAM)?

Thanks!

2GB is your max.

Only a Core 2 Duo can support 3GB of RAM, and even then, models prior to the Late 2007 trims only support 1 X 1GB and 1 X 2GB; if you put in 2 x 2GB, the unit will not boot.

Your max is 2GB in 2 x 1GB as pointed out above.
