Today @ pretty much 1200 the doorbell rang and that is when it all started. I just got my very first macbook pro and very first mac based computer (I come from the linux world). I immediately fell in love with it and now the problem is is that everytime I use it I feel like I'm cheating on my wife LOL. :lmao: :lmao:

So excited can't wait to see what this little wonder can do!!!!

any tips for a beginner like me ie websites, applications etc...

Thanks
J

Welcome! When your wife sees the new unit, she'll agree to an open marriage, I'll bet.

she already has seen it and the first thing she told me was, "Well I guess I won't exist for the next couple of weeks" LOL

Congrats on your purchase, and since your wife will want one soon too you'll want to bookmark the Apple Store (http://apple.ca/store)! :) Seriously though, you may want to look at iWork, it's fantastic and reasonably priced. There is also a pretty decent collection of software Here (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/)

I find Mac Freeware (http://www.freemacware.com) handy from time to time.

As a linux user, you might be interested in Darwin Ports. (http://darwinports.com)

Welcome!

Since nobody else has suggested it, I recommend installing Flip4Mac WMV Player (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx) and Perian (http://perian.org) to allow QuickTime to play most of the non-standard Windows video codecs. You'll also want a handy copy of VLC, but I'm sure you're familiar with it.

Congrats!

The same thing happened to me when I got my first Mac, almost two years ago.

interesting how when men get gadgets, our female significant others automatically deem them as "the mistress" ;) . That's what my wife calls my smartphones each time I get a new one.

easy! buy a Mac for your wife too!

now both of you are cheating so it cancels out.
