If I have an iPhone running 3.1.3 from Sprint in the States, can I unlock it and use my Fido account?

Thanks

An iPhone from Sprint? I think not. Sprint uses CDMA. Not compatible with iPhones at all.

hmmm, maybe it's an AT&T phone then. If it is can I unlock it and use with Fido?

It's definitely ATT (only carrier for the iPhone in teh US)...

What iPhone is it? 2G (original/aluminum), 3G? or 3GS?

If the baseband has been upgrade to 05.12.01 and the bootloader is at 5.08, it is possible. If the bootloader is greater than 5.09, it is not possible.

Where can I see what the bootloader is?
Thanks

The seller tells me the phone is more than a year old. Does this mean it's likely that the phone can be unlocked?

Seeing as the seller is in the US and you are here, it would be prudent on your part to look for a phone here.

Save yourself a lot of hassle, and at least you can pop a sim in and make sure it works here

Good Luck

I don't know about anyone else here, but my Spidey sense is screaming "problems" at me with this US "seller".

The phone is from the US originally, but the seller is here in Toronto and has the phone with him...

Unfortunately it is a very complicated process to check the bootloader version. Here is a guide...
