CUPERTINO, Calif. March 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Apple® today filed a lawsuit against HTC for infringing on 20 Apple patents related to the iPhone's user interface, underlying architecture and hardware. The lawsuit was filed concurrently with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and in U.S. District Court in Delaware.
'Bout damn time! When the original iPhone was announced, Steve himself stated that the iPhone had over 200 patents. I just can't understand why, with the plethora of knock-offs out there, just why hasn't Apple gone after anyone else before 'til now?
Because Steve knows he cannot go after the Chinese companies that produces iFakes and mini iphones. The moment he does, he just lost sales to about 1.3 billion people.
On the other hand, HTC is different. They are in the same market as the iPhone and it is easy for Apple to sue HTC. If HTC wants to stay in NA, then they have to pay up.
In all honesty, I don't think Apple is at all an angel in this sphere of patent infringement. I agree they need to protect their intellectual property though.
