Howdy all!

I've recently purchased a Mac Book Air with leopard 10.5.5. I am trying to share a DVD drive from my vista based PC, but the Mac doesn't see Windows and vice versa. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, and all the guides I find on the net are old or do not apply to me. Can anyone shed some light on this problem, or direct me to a guide that may help. Please remember that I don't know very much about the leopard OS at all. Thanks for all your help!!!

I don't speak Windows, but I recall some folks using SMB to file share (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1568).

Do you see the Vista computer under shared at all? If not, you need to make sure the Vista computer is set to share, I cant remember how this is done, but at work I see our Vista machine, and can access it with no problems, found it easier then XP.

As for CD/DVD drive sharing, I dont know about that, or if its even possible.

Is file sharing on in OS X? If not, go to system preferences, then Sharing, and click the file sharing button.

Thanks for the info. Vista is set to share as I can share with other "windows" machines on the network. The Mac doesn't show in the Shared on the mac. I thought macs and windows were supposed to play nice with each other over a network?LOL!

If you just want to use the DVD drive from the Macbook Air, this is probably what you want:

MacBook Air: How to use Remote Disc to share DVDs or CDs on a Mac- or Windows-based computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1777).
