: New Time Capsule User (But Not New Mac User) What Do I Need To Know?

Well i just snagged a 500GB time capsule, a crazy deal! (In Toronto somewhere) My cousin works there and told me they are clearing them out so if anyone wants one, get to your closest FS and check it out.

So im just wondering I got a D-Link N router now and im gonna switch over to this Time Capsule, anything I need to know about operating it? I got a PS3 a Macbook and an iPhone and iPod Touch to use the wifi. Is there a way to configure my ports for specific applications and hardware, such as my PS3?

You can configure port forwarding with the Airport Utility. My question is what application is running like a server on PS3 that may require external access? PSN doesn't require any port forwarding.

One thing the units don't have, is QOS. Something to keep in mind.

On a similar topic, are the old time machines dual band? I'm not entirely sure what radios are in the Touches\iPhones\PS3s, but I got a feeling it is Wireless G. If you aren't using dual band, then all devices will slow to Wireless G speed.
