I don't have high-speed access to my MB so have to download the file onto a jump drive and take it to my MB. Problem is, I can't find a link to download the Mac version of the software, only the Windows one. Does anyone have a link to download Safari 3.1 without going through Software Update?

Thanks

Apple - Safari - Download (http://www.apple.com/safari/download/)

Ah.

Are you trying to download it from a Windows machine? If so, that's the problem. The page does a check to see what system you're using.

There are ways to spoof user agents, but I forget how to do that, at the moment.

Yes, the only machines here that have "high-speed" access are Windows. I managed to get the 10.5.2 Security Update, but I'd like to get the faster browsing offered by 3.1 (my MB has access to very slow wireless)

You cannot download Safari 3.1 w/o going through Software Update. Start the download now and let it go overnight.

That's incorrect. The link that i4detail posted would allow you to download Safari without using Software Update.

Try using these download links. Right-click and choose download rather than clicking them.

Safari 3.1 for Leopard (http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/Safari3/061-4224.20080318.V3oi5/Safari31UpdLeo.dmg)

Safari 3.1 for Tiger (http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/Safari3/061-4222.20080318.Vrie3/Safari31UpdTiger.dmg)

I got those by initiating the download on a Mac and then copying the URL of the downloads in the Downloads window.

Oooh. Good thinking. Nice Hack-around.
