Not sure if I should be posting this as its technically a windows problem on my moms macbook. Its running 10.5.2. I recently upgraded to Leopard on Friday. I am thinking maybe the problem came with Leopard as it worked fine before Leopard and thats the only thing that has changed. When I try to boot into Windows I get this message:

"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root\\system32\hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file"

Now my question is, how do I reinstall that file, and where would I find that file to replace it with?

Thanks

oh its running XP Pro

Your thread title is redundant: "windows" = "problem"

:)

Okay, okay ... but seriously, here's a tip all Windows users ought to know by now:
Google "the thing that's missing" + "windows" and 9 times out of 10 you'll find exactly what you're looking for.

For example, I googled "hal.dll + windows" and this was the first hit:
Missing Windows hal.dll file (http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000490.htm)
